This fella gets my vote for biggest balls of the week. He baits the shark then gets it to tow him into a wave. Bloody cheek of the guy! Do ya think its a fake or what? The more I look at it the more real it looks. The bait looks a bit suspect though!

Kitesurfing, Kiteboarding or just Kiteflying?
April 19th, 2008 · No Comments
I don’t understand the mechanics of Kites so I’m not sure what happened here but it seems like this guy didn’t read the instruction manual. Full respect though as he stayed with it for the full ride. Lets hope his girlfriend had a clean pair of shorts waiting!!

Kelly Slater wins Rip Curl Pro
April 5th, 2008 · No Comments
Kelly Slater, eight times world champion still holds his unbeaten record for 2008 after coming back late in the heat to claim victory over Australia’s Bede Durbidge in the Rip Curl Pro final.
The unstoppable Slater completed a clean sweep of the Australian leg of the 11 stop tour after winning on the Gold Coast early this month.
Slater, now 36, performed a spectacular aerial to record an 8.3 with only four minutes left in the 35-minute final to pile the pressure on Durbidge, who needed a 6.8 to be able to win in the inconsistent, one metre waves.
Durbidge gave his all on his final wave but it was not enough to better Slaters score. The World Champ took the Bells trophy for the third time after also taking out this event in 1994 and 2006.
Slater won the first two legs of the 2006 world contest in which he took his eighth world title.

Why not take a “Step Into Liquid”
December 26th, 2007 · No Comments
The writer, director and editor of this funny and informative movie about surfing is Dana Brown, son of Bruce Brown, whose Endless Summer is a classic surfing film. He takes us on a search to find what gives wave-riders today “the stoke” that keeps them doing what they do?
Brown discovers a remarkable selection of men, women, and children in his hunt for answers. There is young man who still rides his board after having had a crippling accident and a surfing fanatic who hasn’t missed a day in the water for more than 27 years. Brown’s quest discovers surfers who get their buzz riding the waves in the wake of supertankers in the Gulf of Mexico and the famous Malloy Brothers who ride the waves of Ireland’s fabled west coast and have managed to bring Catholic and Protestant kids together as they learn to surf.
In Tahiti, some of the finest women surfers on the planet risk life and limb against a wave with teeth while in Hawaii, surfers of all ages ride Pipeline’s spitting barrels on Oahu’s North Shore. A bunch of dedicated surfers even gather in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to ride the waves of Lake Michigan. But the most extreme of all are a big wave crew that ride huge 20 meter plus waves 100 miles off of the coast of California.
Lots of extras with this DVD, including surf lessons, how to make a surfboard, surfing etiquette, surfing terms, designing a custom surfboard, and the full version of the video game “Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer.” You also get a 3D flythrough of the films locations.
This movie gives you an understanding of the way surfers think. It puts you in the water where the action is. It’s a real invitation to “Step Into Liquid”.

Surf Movies for Christmas
November 4th, 2007 · No Comments
Why not buy your ‘surf crazed’ partner a surf movie this Christmas?
My personal favorite at the moment is ‘Riding Giants’ featuring the fearless trio, Greg Noll, Jeff Clark, and Laird Hamilton.
This documentary style movie takes you through the history of Big Wave Riding.
Amazing early amateur footage of Oahu’s Makaha & Waimea Bay. A fantastic chapter on the ‘mind boggling’ Mavericks, Not for the fainthearted!
Director Stacy Peralta has put together a wonderful piece of extreme screen action that will keep you captivated from start to finish.
There’s more than 350 Surfing DVD’s to choose from at Amazon so go take a look, You’ll be spoilt for choice.

YouTube puts You in the Tube
October 31st, 2007 · No Comments
Have you ever wondered what it looks like inside of a barreling wave.
This fantastic video puts you there!
It gives you a surfers eye view of how it looks and almost how it feels (obviously you don’t get wet unless you watch it in the shower).
This is the best ‘inside a barrel’ video I’ve seen since George Greenough’s 70s movie ‘Crystal Voyager’ that also features a Pink Floyd sound track.
Go on get your hair wet!

May be you’ve seen this before. I know I’ve watched it 30 times at least & I still can’t decide if it’s real or not. At first I thought it’s got to be a fake but the more I look at it the less I can see where the join is.
What do you think? Where is it?
